One natural weight loss tip many people are unaware of is to practice breathing correctly. So, now you are wonder how you can start practicing and taking advantage of this natural weight loss tip. I told you not to worry! Let’s slowly step through some breathing exercises that will help promote weight loss. We’ll start with the easy ones and end off with a couple advanced techniques.

Supine Belly Breathing

First, an easy natural weight loss breathing technique.

  1. Lie on your back. You can be on the ground or a couch, just anywhere you can fully stretch out.
  2. Now take a deep breath through your nose and let it fill your belly.
  3. Hold this breath for ten to twenty seconds.
  4. Now release the breath through your mouth and notice as your belly deflates.
  5. Repeat this breathing technique several times.

Alternate Nostril Breathing

Natural Weight Loss Tip Alternate Nostril BreathingNow let’s try alternate nostril breathing.  Alternate nostril breathing is a technique whereby you alternate inhaling and exhaling between your two nostrils and emulates the natural alternation of breathing from nostril to nostril.

  1. Take two fingers and pinch your nose.
  2. Now release just the right nostril and breathe in.
  3. Switching your fingers, close the right nostril and releasing the left and breathe out through the left.
  4. Now breathe in through the left, close the left nostril, and breathe out through the right.
  5. Repeat.

Deep Belly Breathing

Here’s another easy one that helps you improve your deep belly breathing.  Deep belly breathing stimulates what is known as the relaxation response providing our lungs and ultimately our blood with the maximum amount of oxygen possible.  It is at this point that our metabolism rate is accelerated and fat burn and weight loss will increase.

  1. While standing, blow air out from your mouth for five seconds, pulling the belly button in.
  2. Now breathe air in through your nose for eight seconds while pushing the belly button out.
  3. Hold the air for eight seconds, and then breathe out through the mouth for five seconds.
  4. Repeat.

Kapalabhati

This next technique is a little more advanced and is called Kapalabhati. Kapalabhati is often used in yoga and involves forceful exhalation followed by relaxed inhalation.  This is usually started off slowly and increased as you get more comfortable with the technique.  This leads to an increase in the capability of your lungs to expel carbon dioxide and other toxins.

  1. First take two normal breaths.
  2. Now breathe in quickly through your nose in a relaxed manner by expanding your lower belly, then immediately exhale out through the nose by forcefully contracting your lower belly.
  3. Repeat this inhalation and exhalation in a fast rhythm about twenty times at 1 to 2 second breathing cycles.

Senobi Breathing Method

Natural Weight Loss Deep Belly BreathingThe final advanced natural weight loss breathing technique is called the Senobi Breathing Method. A Japanese breathing technique, performing Senobi is quickly becoming one of the most popular natural weight loss tips.  This is because Senobi causes up-regulation of sympathetic nerve activity and increased urinary hormone secretionin overweight individuals resulting in fat loss when combined with exercise.   This technique is traditionally performed before every meal and can be done either sitting or standing.

  1. First extend your hands above your head with palms facing upwards.
  2. Now lean back and arch your neck backwards into your back without overextending your neck. Please be careful not to injure your neck while performing this exercise!
  3. Inhale for five seconds and then exhale for five seconds.
  4. Repeat six times for a total of three inhalation-exhalation cycles.
